When I go to the Words section and sort the All Words section according to the “Next” column there are many words listed as “Ready”. They also show up as my number telling me how many items are there to review. But when I go to the Study section they are never being asked.
This affects learning because Skritter does not add new words frequently enough to keep me in a constant flow of learning. Blocking and unblocking the words did not change anything. The only thing those words have in common is that they are exclusively writing(rune) items and they were added around the same time, so the issue has to come from the time they were added or the time I was studying them frequently.
Currently the most important words for me are:
走路 zǒulù to walk; go on foot
咖啡 kāfēi coffee
要 yào, yāo to want; to need
男 nán male
弟弟 dìdi younger brother
爸爸 bàba daddy
…for you developers to take a look at it. But there are some more, even some that have never been asked for writing:
艸 cǎo grass (Kangxi radical 140)
艹 cǎo grass (Kangxi radical 140, variant)
英文 yīngwén English (language)
Thanks for the including the examples of words that are getting stuck in a ready state but aren’t showing up when studying. I’m going to take a look at this and see what could be causing this. How do you primarily study when you’ve been noticing this (website/android/ios)?

I now get my “due counter” down to about 6 items, but it still doesnt add new words. What is the automatic word adding system supposed to do? What does it depend its activation on?
I also heard there is a setting (maybe its called retention rate) that makes items appear faster, maybe I want to change that setting too?

It really seems that these items listed above are the last ones that are in this weird state. Can you please make the same changes to them that you did to the others? I think then everything will be back to normal and this issue has been resolved.
I didn’t make changes to the specific items you listed last time, but I did tweak some higher level code that looked like it could have been preventing certain ready items for appearing. After looking at the list of items that are next on your client I do see those items on the list to show up soon. Here is a copy of things as they are at the time of writing this reply:

After looking a bit deeper into the issues the items do appear on the list, but the client seems to be skipping them. I’m going to dig into this now and see if I can find a quick solution. I’ll let you know when I either fix it or have more information. In terms of the due counter that code will only start adding new items when 5 or less items are due.

I tracked down the issue and just pushed the changes live. You should be seeing those items that were being excluded now during your studies. The character 琇 will still be skipped for writing prompts because we don’t have stroke data for it yet. I need to look into 你好嗎? a little more, but my guess is that it’s related to the question mark.
Alright, I think I’ve patched up things with items with other symbols in them (eg. 你好嗎?). Thanks for the all the reporting and let me know how things go!

I can happily report that that issue seems to be solved. The only thing left is that the due counter (You have ? items to review) seems to display some number I can not relate to the number of items listed as Ready. But maybe you guys chose to calculate it differently, let me know I am curious.
